The first G-SHOCK watch, the DW-5000C, was born in 1983, and the iconic square design has been retained in the GMW-B5000 series, which is now fully metalized and equipped with advanced functions such as smartphone links. The full-metal case is realized by a shock-resistant structure that sandwiches a fine resin buffer between the metal bezel made of hard stainless steel and the main body case section. The size of the case is also maintained by high-density mounting technology. The back of the case is a massive screw-back case with DLC treatment for superior wear resistance. The entire case and band are treated with black IP for beautiful coloring. Visibility is also improved with the use of film solar cells and STN-LCD (liquid crystal display). In terms of functionality, the watch is equipped with a Bluetooth® communication function and can acquire accurate time information in conjunction with a dedicated application. In addition, the watch is equipped with a time correction system using standard radio waves (multi-band 6), stable drive by Tough Solar, a high-intensity fully automatic LED backlight, world time, and a day-of-week display in six languages, among other practical features. While inheriting its origins, this G-SHOCK has been further refined with full metalization.
