This model features a case with the royal Grand Seiko design and a distinctive dial that makes the dial stand out. The dial with an organic pattern expresses the delicate beauty of Japanese nature.

The spring-driven movement is characterized by a second hand that glides over the dial. The natural movement of the second hand, which seems to flow in harmony with the flow of time, is controlled by an IC. The maximum winding time is about 72 hours (about 3 days), and the remaining duration can be checked on the power reserve display on the lower left side of the dial.

The 9R Spring Drive is a Grand Seiko proprietary quartz movement equipped with a completely new quartz regulating mechanism that precisely controls accuracy using an IC and quartz oscillator, while being powered by the torque generated by the unwinding of the mainspring of a mechanical watch.
It took more than 20 years from the conception to its development, and another five years to achieve performance worthy of the Grand Seiko crown, before it was born in 2004.
