About the 9R Spring Drive Movement

The 9R Spring Drive is a Grand Seiko proprietary quartz movement equipped with a completely new quartz regulating mechanism. It precisely controls accuracy using ICs and a quartz oscillator, while being powered by the torque generated by the unwinding of the mainspring of a mechanical watch.

It took more than 20 years from the conception to its development, and another five years to achieve performance worthy of the Grand Seiko crown, before it was born in 2004.
